Kuldhara, also known as Kaldhara is a mysterious village situated in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. It was considered one of the most prosperous villages in 13th-century India.
It is said that when people came and settled in Kuldhara there was an abundance of natural resources that resulted in an increase in population from 0 to 500 in just one year which was more than 1800 in just five years. Then what exactly happened in Kuldhara when the whole village was wiped off in one night? How is it possible that all the villagers abandoned their houses before dawn?
Locals have different stories to them. Some say, in the 19th century, resources were coming to an end which lead people to move out and find a better place to live and others blame it on Diwan Salim Singh who was attracted to a girl in the village and sent guards to captivate her in the 20th century. Villagers asked for a night's time to hand her over and later abandoned the village.
Legends say that the villagers cursed this place while leaving so that no one could reside or settle there at any given point in time!
There are a variety of stories going around about this place because of this it became a famous haunted site for tourists. In 2010, Government decided to turn it into a residential society and planned some parks around it. A team of eighteen researchers was sent and they claimed their encounter with many paranormal activities like moving shadows, loud screams, haunting voices, talking spirits, and many more incidences, even when no one was around.
A few Tamil movie scenes are shot there and the production team asserted the presence of something that can't be explained. Many people tried to inhabit the place on account of its beauty and calmness but all of them died horribly of unknown causes.
Till date, a lot of research has been carried out but the cause of abandonment is still a mystery.
What are your thoughts on it? Have you heard of any stories about Kuldhara?
